Hussey the hero as Australia stun Pakistan

Michael Hussey's latest rescue mission saw Australia beat defending champions Pakistan by three wickets with just a ball to spare to reach the World Twenty20 final on Friday.

Set a huge 192 to win, Australia collapsed to 62 for four.

But, initially through Cameron White, who made 43, and Hussey's unbeaten 60, they recovered and will now face old rivals England in Sunday's final at Barbados's Kensington Oval.

Australia needed 18 to win off the last over, from off-spinner Saeed Ajmal.

England crush Sri Lanka to reach final

England cruised into the World Twenty20 final with a seven-wicket thrashing of Sri Lanka at the Beausejour Stadium on Thursday.

Set just 129 to win, after tight bowling restricted Sri Lanka -- last year's losing finalists -- to 128 for six, England finished on 132 for three as they won with four overs to spare.

Kevin Pietersen, on his return to the side after he attended the birth of his son in London, finished on 42 not out and ended the match in style with a six and a four in successive balls off fast bowler Lasith Malinga.

England, who have never won a major one-day international tournament, are now through to their first final since hosting the 2004 Champions Trophy.

Australia humble Windies as hosts bow out

Australia knocked hosts the West Indies out of the World Twenty20 and kept alive the possibility of an Anglo-Australian final with a dominating six-wicket win on Tuesday.

West Indies, in a match they had to win by 24 runs to reach the semi-finals were bowled out for just 105 at the Beausejour Stadium.

Australia, in reply, lost two wickets on 31.

But Brad Haddin (42) saw Australia to the verge of victory before he got out with two runs needed to West Indies captain Chris Gayle.

India knocked out of World T20

A series of poor performances had ensured that by Tuesday, all of India knew the answer to a math puzzle that would decide Team India's fate at the World T20. To grab a place in the semi-finals, first India had to do its bit and then, wait in hope that Australia would.

Well, Australia played its part by comprehensively beating the West Indies by six wickets - bundling them out for 105 in 19 overs and cruising to a win with 22 balls to spare - but India had already been knocked out of the tournament by then.

A five-wicket defeat to Lanka, who first crossed 143 to knock India out of the tournament and then added insult to injury by winning the match with a six off the last ball. The win secured Lanka a berth in the semi-finals.

England knock out New Zealand, Pakistan into semis

England proved there was more to their batting than Kevin Pietersen as they knocked New Zealand out of the World Twenty20 with a three-wicket win on Monday.

Eoin Morgan starred with 40 after England, chasing 150 for victory, had slumped to 66 for four at the Beausejour Stadium.

But, together with Luke Wright, who made 24, the former Ireland left-hander swung the game back England's way in a stand of 52 in just more than six overs.

Morgan got out just before the finish but man-of-the-match Tim Bresnan, unbeaten on 23 after taking one wicket for 20, finished the contest with five balls to spare when he pulled Kyle Mills for four.

Australia thrash Lanka to enter semis

Cameron White smashed a gutsy 49-ball 85 as a rampaging Australia stormed into the semi-finals of the World Twenty20 after trouncing Sri Lanka by 81 runs in their Super Eights match here on Sunday.

Battling all odds, White came up a with a stunner of an innings that lifted Australia to 168 for five from a calamitous start after electing to bat.

White's crafty knock and his unbeaten 101-run partnership with Mike Hussey (39) snatched the initiative from the Sri Lankans, who had reduced the Australians to 67 for five.
